Looking Back, Moving Forward: Langham Logistics Top Five 2019 Accomplishments

Most of us have begun to execute on our strategic plan for 2020, but we haven’t spent time celebrating our 2019 successes. (We would love to hear yours and share a few of ours!) As you may know, Langham focuses on challenges and opportunities that are strategic for our customers and responds accordingly. This has resulted in five of our most important 2019 accomplishments. We innovatively began to leverage business intelligence and technology. Our team continued to grow our life sciences services. We achieved a major milestone and expanded our services in anticipation of evolving customer needs. By looking back, we prepare to move forward.

1. West Coast Warehouse Expansion

Our clients’ successes create mutual growth, so we expanded our warehouse footprint. We acquired more warehouse space in California to increase our West Coast presence. (Details coming soon!) We also optimized utilization in our Plainfield facility to accommodate additional capacity and growth in Indiana.

2. Growth of Langham Life Sciences Services

In October 2019, Langham Logistics capitalized on its vision for growing our 3PL services tailored to the life sciences industries, including pharmaceuticals, biologics, cell and gene therapy, animal health, and nutraceuticals. We formally named the Langham Life Sciences Services (LLSS) division, which provides world-class warehousing, distribution, transportation, and specialty logistics services to clients whose customers rely on life-saving therapies and healthcare products. Our LLSS team specializes in quality delivery of sensitive products using diverse supply chain experience and professionalism.  More on that later!

3. Customer Portal Tracking Features

Companies like Amazon, Uber, and DoorDash continue to raise the bar in providing end-to-end order visibility to their customers. Langham Logistics understands how crucial information is, so we upgraded our portal allowing customers to track shipments through delivery. This service will expand in 2020 to include shipping-related documents as well.

4. Business Intelligence

Data goes beyond shipment tracking and plays a vital role in business analytics. Our Business Intelligence (BI) uniquely helps us, and our clients, make informed decisions on strategies for scaling and growing their businesses. We launched BI on transportation services to capture trends such as spend by mode and on-time performance in 2019. BI for warehouse services will roll out later this year.

5. The Million Mile Mark

Early in 2019, Langham Logistics celebrated the one-millionth mile of its Indiana dedicated fleet services with zero DOT recordable accidents, 100% “claim-free” shipments, and 99.6% on-time performance. This is an extraordinary achievement for a service founded as recently as 2015. Langham’s privately-owned freight assets provide white glove services to our core customer base throughout Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan.

Reflecting on our top five 2019 successes has informed our 2020 vision. If last year is an indicator, we clearly see many more opportunities ahead.

Send us your successes to sales@elangham.com.
